Mason Copeland helps people find their best franchise opportunities. He knows franchising well, with a diverse, 18-year background that includes a wealth of experience as a company co-founder, a franchisor, and as a multi-unit franchisee. He has great passion for franchising and enjoys helping franchise candidates who are looking for thoughtful, objective advice as they evaluate the many opportunities available in franchising today.

After completing his Bachelor of Commerce studies at Carleton University, Mr. Copeland co-founded a video game retail concept called Microplay in 1985. In 1993, with the experience of having opened six successful locations, Mason and his partner decided to begin aggressively franchising the concept and by February of 1996 they had grown the franchised chain to over 160 locations across North America and England. Mason and his partner decided to divest their majority interests in Microplay in August of 1996. Mason did however, stay on with the company, through several ownership changes, in various senior capacities, until February of 2002. Mason and his wife Karen, continue to successfully operate Microplay's #1 franchise location.

Mason has been involved in every aspect of franchise management from strategic planning to franchise owner training, developing franchise agreements, establishing proper disclosure and compliance systems, construction and build-out, supplier relations, systems and manuals development, franchise marketing, and ongoing support and franchisee relations. Mason's extensive business experience in franchise management, and franchise ownership is a significant resource for potential business owners to utilize in finding the best franchises to match their interests, qualifications and dreams.

As a member of the BestFranchise.org leadership team, Mason Copeland provides guidance on what would be helpful questions and issues to address when producing franchise surveys and related franchise investor services and publications. Of course, Mason also mentors people working to identify which franchise would fit with their style, talents and needs..
