Jan Wall
Director, Franchise Business Plan Services
Jan knows how to get a franchise business plan completed. He has been writing for 40 years. He's written for academics, government, Fortune 500 companies, start up companies, major management consulting firms, and newspapers.
Jan has developed an approach that considers the franchise related variables banks want to see when considering a loan request. This approach nets you a franchise business plan that also helps you make better decisions with confidence about the potential for your considered franchise investment.
For Jan, writing is an act of creation. He truly enjoys working with clients who have a good idea about what they want to say but don't know how to get it down on paper. Over the years, he's developed the knack of capturing others' ideas in business documents that are easy to read, compelling, grammatically correct, and and visually appealing. In fact, he uses graphics wherever possible to add eye-appeal to the page and reinforce the message in the written word.
Jan holds a BS in Mathematics from Purdue and an MS in Computer Science from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He has held project management and general management roles in Fortune 500 Corporations and been a consultant with Ernst & Young and KPMG in areas including strategy development, systems audits and organizational change.
He was responsible for Executive Relationship Management roles with Sun Microsystems in the San Francisco Bay Area and Geneva, Switzerland. He held a similar role with The Open Group ' an organization of the seven largest computer companies created to ensure the interoperability of IT on a global basis. This work called for him to write business documents that were key to the success of major projects and the sale of hundreds of millions of dollars of computer hardware, software, and services.
Today Jan writes and oversees the creation of business plans, articles for publication, grant applications, business proposals, and promotional materials for small, medium, and large corporations as well as not-for-profits. He has a particular interest in assisting clients write business plans that clearly determine whether their ventures are likely to be successful, provide a roadmap to that success, and are compelling for both the franchisors and investors/banks. He also advises MBA students at Royal Roads University on how to write their theses.
He applies this deep business and writing background to ensure each BestFranchise.org client gets the quality franchise business plan he or she needs, and in a timely manner.
